(Updated at 12:53) – A Boulder Creek teenager was killed in a deputy-involved shooting Thursday night. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Fern Flat Avenue around 10:30 p.m. following a report of a family fight. At the scene, deputies learned that a 17-year-old had beaten his grandfather and killed a family kitten. The suspect stayed inside the house while law enforcement attempted to negotiate with him. He emerged once with a club, before going back inside the residence to arm himself with a rifle. The teenager reportedly aimed the gun at deputies, prompting them to open fire. The suspect was airlifted to a regional trauma center where he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.
