(Updated at 15:45) – Deputies have identified the body found at Wilder Ranch State Park Monday night. Officials say the body of 19-year-old Shireen Ahsan was discovered at Strawberry Beach around 5:30 p.m. The UCSC student has been swept out to sea while hiking with friends in Bonny Doon last week. A memorial for Ahsan was to be held tonight on the UCSC campus. It will now be rescheduled. (S.G.)
(Posted January 25 at 20:54) SANTA CRUZ – Human remains were found Monday evening just miles from Bonny Doon beach, where two UCSC students were reported missing last week. A cyclist came upon the remains at Strawberry Beach in Wilder Ranch State Park at roughly 5:30 PM, police said. No identifiable markings could be found. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reported that an investigation is underway. (J.C.)
