(06:30) Big Sur – For the last two nights Cal Fire Officials have closed a portion of Highway 1, so that firefighters could light “Backburns”….In hopes of keeping the 67- thousand acre Soberanes Fire from jumping across Highway 1 in the Big Sur area. The road closure Monday night was from 10 until 6 A-M and the same was planned for last night (Tuesday). The closure was between Palo Colorado Road and the north Coast Ridge Road. Firefighters have been successful with keeping the fire at 67,000 acres and it is still 50 percent contained.
