A 34 year-old pedestrian died when he was hit by an Amtrak train in Salinas yesterday. The just before 3:30 p.m. accident occurred as the Amtrak train was heading from Seattle to Los Angeles. Although the conductor activated the emergency stop, the train could not stop before it hit the man.
