(17:55) SANTA CRUZ- UCSC will be the venue for a student computer coding event. 700 of the nearly 1300 applicants are expected to participate in the first Hack-A-Thon. The event was inspired by the 2014 HACK USA, however this years event is free to participants that will begin competitive computer coding at around midnight tonight (Friday). Many students will work without sleep until the Sunday 1 p.m. deadline. Winners of the competition will receive prizes from Google and Microsoft.
