A suicidal man was rescued Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters say the 50 year-old man tied a noose to the pedestrian bridge across the San Lorenzo River (between Water street and Soquel Avenue), and then slipped it around his neck. As he stepped off the rail of the bridge, Santa Cruz Police officers and a park ranger pulled the man to safety, and took him to Dominican Hospital, so he could get a mental health evaluation.
