S.V. Library Lease Controversy 05/19/11 7:15p.m. TDH

Scotts valley city council members voted to approve a 2-year-lease agreement on Wednesday, for a new library.  However the future of the library is up in air, due to a dispute between the city, which owns the building, and the county, which is set to run the library.  County leaders have maintained that there is insufficient funding to open the library on kings village road, which cost 8-million dollars to build.   Scotts Valley leaders had been set to approve a 30-year-lease of the library, however they passed the short-term lease instead, with hopes that county leaders will consider it.   The santa cruz county board of supervisors is scheduled to take up the matter at its meeting next Tuesday (may 24).
