A paddle-out is planned for Ben Kelly (who died Saturday after being attacked by a shark). He was surfing with friends off the coast of Sand Dollar Beach, south of Manresa State Beach at the time of the attack. The 26 year-old was not only a well-liked local surfer, he was also a custom board maker and shaper. A Go Fund Me Account, titled “Ben Kelley Memorial Fund” has raised 34-thousand dollars so far. That money is slated to help out Kelly’s wife, Katie. Due to Saturday’s fatal shark attack, all aquatic activity has been closed for 1-mile north and south of where the attack occurred. That hard-closure will last through tomorrow.
