An effort is underway in Carmel Valley to help sick oak trees suffering from “sudden oak death”
Researchers from U-C Berkeley along with volunteers are taking samples of bay leaves in Carmel Valley, where the pathogen lives… to try and understand why oak trees along the California coast are dying in great numbers.
Scientists think the pathogen originated in china and was transported to the u-s through other plants. Findings from the project are expected to be revealed in October.
