(18:05) WATSONVILLE- Watsonville Police Department’s investigations division re-opened a 2001 rape case that involved a 20 yr old female victim who was developmentally disabled. The incident occurred May of 2001. Recently detectives received a a DNA match on forensic on the cold case. The officers also linked 39 year old David Saavedra to 2010 child sexual assault allegations. Saavedra is awaiting extradition to Santa Cruz from Fresno County.
