(17:03) MONTEREY COUNTY – The Monterey County Health Department has reported the first case (since 2012) of a human getting West Nile Virus. The person, is believed to have been exposed to W-N-V in Monterey county (or the Central Valley) and has been hospitalized. The mosquitoes that carry West Nile Virus tend to be most active at dawn and dusk. People are strongly encouraged to eliminate all sources of standing water on your property, including flowerpots, old car tires, rain gutters, and pet bowls. If you have a pond, use mosquito fish or commercially available products to eliminate mosquito larvae.
