(11:00) Salinas – A federal delegation from Washington visited Salinas to discuss youth violence. The purpose of the visit was to generate new ideas to prevent youth violence as well create more funding for programs. Jose Arreola, Community Safety Administrator, with the city of Salinas, said that their efforts to focus on youth violence and to tackle issues have worked. Although there has been a rise in homicides, youth violence did decrease in 2015. City Officials say they will continue their bimonthly meetings where members of the public can come and address their concerns about public safety. The Community Alliance for Safety and Peace meeting meets every first and third Wednesday of every month and is held at the Salinas City Elementary School District at 7 p.m.
