September 15, 2016: Soberanes Fire

(06:00) Monterey – The Soberanes Fire has burned 107,375 acres south of Carmel valley and north east of the Big Sur area in Monterey County.  Due to the difficulty of getting in to where it’s now burning the containment has dropped to 52 percent.  The U.S. Forest Service reported that the public should expect to see increasing amounts of smoke on the east side of the fire as burnout operations progress over the coming days to reach containment objectives.  The operation will begin in the area of Chews Ridge and progress towards the existing containment line.
