(10:00) Salinas – The California International Airshow begins next weekend in Salinas. The United States Airforce Thunderbirds will be putting on the show and have chosen a local firefighter to ride with them. Brian Gorrell is a volunteer firefighter for the Mid Coast Brigade in Big Sur. Gorrell was picked to ride with the Thuderbirds because of his service in fighting the Soberanes Fire and for his efforts to start a water rescue program. Airshow officials want to show their apperception to all the firefighters who are working hard to fight the Soberanes Fire and will be letting them in to the two day event for free. Firefighters must bring a valid I.D. to receive free access.
