Seaside city leaders are considering plans to build a 250,000 square foot Convention Center in the former Fort Ord area. The proposed Monterey Peninsula Convention Center would cost 140-million dollars to build, and would be the largest facility in the Monterey Bay to accommodate trade shows and conventions. If the plan is approved, it would create nearly 2,000 jobs and bring in 270-million dollars for the region. An advisory team is slated to discuss the issue next month.
