The search has been suspended for survivors of the dive boat fire off of Santa Cruz Island. Out of 39 people who were aboard, only four crew members and the captain managed to escape and survive…..and that’s because they were reportedly all up on deck when the early morning fire broke out. As of 4 p.m. today 20 bodies had been recovered, and from 4-6 more were still on the boat….leaving 14 victims un-accounted for….although all are presumed dead at this time. Crews are working to determine if they can bring the boat back up to the surface. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board. Family members can call the county’s call center at (833) 688-5551 for more information. The public can call toll free 800-400-1572.
