A Santa Cruz man has been arrested for assaulting police and DUI. Authorities report that patrol units arrived to the intersection of Mission and Miramar Streets, Friday night after receiving calls about a driver trying to leave the scene of an accident. Upon seeing the officers, 22-year-old Rafael Cardenas attempted to flee and then became combative to the point of injuring both officers before he was subdued. Cardenas was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
