(14:03) SANTA CRUZ- This Wednesday the Santa Cruz Arts Commission will consider removing a 30-year-old piece of public art. Guardian I has been on West Cliff Drive near Auburn Avenue since 1986. It is the city’s oldest public piece of art. The sculpture has recently deteriorated beyond repair. At the 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall the commission will discuss permanent removal, replacement with a piece by the original artist or submissions by other local artisans.
