A Santa Cruz Councilmember was sentenced today to spend 3 days in a Santa Cruz County Jail work-release-program. Councilman Tony Madrigal was sentenced after entering a no contest plea last month for a reckless driving charge after he was pulled over in August for swerving on the roadway. Officers later learned Madrigal was texting and using a laptop computer while he was driving. In addition to his sentence, Madrigal will also have to pay fines totaling $774.
