The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports this morning that more County residents died of methamphetamine overdoses during the first half of 2019 than during all of 2018. The newspaper says it was given a preliminary report by the county’s pathologist.
The report says that in all of 2018, some 17 people died of meth overdose in Santa Cruz County. This year, there had already been 22 death by the end of July and there have been additional deaths more since then.
Pathologist Stephany Fiore told the newspaper that some of the deaths were in unexpected groups, such as 70 and 80-year-old people
The full report is due early next year.
