(9:15) SANTA CRUZ- A community form on the state of homelessness was held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Santa Cruz on Saturday. The event coincides with the November 12th to the 20th, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. During the meeting participants discussed the estimated 1,900 to 3,500 homeless in the county. Thirty percent of the population is made up of women, most choosing homelessness to escape domestic violence. Another 24 percent is made up young adults aging out of the foster system. In all 86 percent of the homeless are trying to find a way off of the streets.
