SC Clerk Offers Free Weddings July 14 04-10-19 05:00 DC

The Santa Cruz County Clerk and the County Parks Department will offer weddings at no cost on Sunday, July 14 at Quail Hollow Ranch County Park. Sign-ups for “Love in the Hollow” free wedding ceremonies will open at 8 a.m., this coming Monday, April 15.

Couples can schedule their wedding online at www.sccoclerk.com, or call the Santa Cruz County Clerk at 831-454-2060. Couples can also visit in person at the Santa Cruz County Clerk’s Office, 701 Ocean Street, Room 310, Santa Cruz.

Ceremonies will occur every 30 minutes from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Sunday, July 14. A limited number of spots are available. County Clerk Gail Pellerin said this is the first time the free weddings have been offered. They are intended to demonstrate the beauty and value of Santa Cruz County parks.

There is no cost for the wedding ceremony; however, couples must purchase a marriage license prior to their ceremony. Couples can buy their marriage license from any County Clerk’s office in the state. County Clerk offices are only open on weekdays. Marriage licenses are valid immediately and good for 90 days.

Marriage licenses in Santa Cruz County costs $90 and are issued by the Santa Cruz County Clerk located at 701 Ocean Street, Room 310, in Santa Cruz. To obtain a marriage license, each party to the marriage must appear in person with valid identification, complete a form supplying personal information, and take an oath.

Couples must have at least one witness present for a public marriage. Confidential marriages do not need a witness.
