You may soon be seeing more drop boxes for used syringes and unused medication under a new state law that was pioneered by Santa Cruz County. The red medication and syringe drop boxes have been in Santa Cruz for a decade. Under the new law, the drug industry has until 2021 to develop a statewide take-back program, perhaps using drop boxes in pharmacies.
