If parts of Santa Cruz seemed a bit smoky Sunday afternoon, there are a couple of possible explanations. One was a fire outside Depot Park that burned between about noon and 4 p.m. yesterday. That blaze destroyed one modular home. Firefighters from Santa Cruz, Central Fire, and Felton responded to the incident.
Another possibility for the smoke was a wildland fire in Solano County that had smoke driven by high winds reportedly travel as far as the Santa Cruz area. And as a third possibility, CALFIRE battled a blaze in the Coyote Creek area near Morgan Hill.
