The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has launched a program to help veterans facing criminal charges. The Veteran’s Treatment Program will provide volunteer mentors to incarcerated men and women who have served in the military. Veterans who choose to participate can earn dismissal of minor charges, or reduced charges in more serious cases. The program requires participation in therapy, community service, and completion of substance abuse, anger management, or PTSD programs.
