Although Santa Cruz county is not currently on the governor’s “watch list”, the spike of positive test results could send the county that way if we cannot flatten that curve…again. Currently, there are 80 new cases per 100,000 population in Santa Cruz county, and counties get flagged when that reaches 100 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 residents. In the last 2 weeks, Santa Cruz county has seen an increase (in Covid-19 cases) of 53 percent. Contact Tracers are doing what they can to alert people who MAY have been exposed to those Active Cases of the virus. If a county stays on the “watch list” for 3 consecutive days, then they need to roll back some of the businesses that have been allowed to re-open. Covid-19 cases need to drop before any of those businesses are allowed to re-open once again.
