Salinas police will be implementing a traffic safety zone enforcement period. Officers will be focusing on traffic around area schools, particularly at the beginning and ending of school days. Patrol units will be focusing on drivers stopping in traffic to drop off or pick up students. The practice of stopping in the roadway is said to be responsible for traffic jams, accidents, injury and death.
