Salinas Oversized Vehicles Towed 08-27-18 19:40 DC

Police in Salinas have begun enforcing a ban on the street parking of large vehicles, including RV’s, boats, trailers and other vehicles over 20-feet in length.

On Monday, only three vehicles had to be towed. None were operational. Police said the vehicles had not been registered in years, and were leaking toxic fluids onto the road.

Police had warned owners of the oversized vehicles, as well as the homeless people living in parked R-V’s. Police said everyone was cooperative and they handed out housing and other social services referrals to those needing them.

City officials say the illegally-parked vehicles can create safety hazards, hinder roadway visibility and slow emergency responders.
