Salinas-Linked Food Illness Sickens More Than 500 08-24-18 0750 DC

McDonald’s customers in 16 states have been sickened by salads packaged by a Salinas company. The FDA says the number of parasitic cyclospora infections continues to grow. McDonald’s says it has removed the Fresh Express-brand salads from its stores.

Symptoms from the parasite include diarrhea, fever, and body aches. It’s treated by antibiotics, but symptoms can last from a few days to a few months.

Fresh express continues its investigation of the outbreak.
