The River and Carmel Fires have grown too. The River Fire, burning south of the community of Spreckels (and the city of Salinas), has charred 15 thousand and 50 acres so far and is considered to be 7 percent contained; while the Carmel Fire has grown to 21-hundred and 50 acres and is 0 percent contained. Some firefighters there are working to keep the fire from burning south toward Gonzales, while others are trying to keep the edge of the wildfire contained near San Benancio Road in the Toro Park area. In regards to evacuations for the River and Carmel Fires, evacuations continued along River Road last night, as well as east and west of the Carmel Fire.
