Price Gouging 9/18/20 5a Ci

Retailers better think twice if they plan to profit from the misfortune of fire victims.

The Santa Cruz county Board of Supervisors voted to fine retailers up to 10-thousand dollars for over-charging consumers for goods and services following the C-Z -U fire.

The current law prohibits price increases to no more than 10-percent for goods and services in the 30-days following the fire.
