An Aptos man was arraigned yesterday in a Santa Cruz County Superior Court room. 25 year-old Damien Welch, who was shot multiple times June 20th, while trying to rob an Aptos resident, is accused of first-degree burglary, attempted burglary, and 2 misdemeanor charges of prowling with a prior prison term. Back in march of 2014, Welch was convicted of 4 felonies for burglary, robbery and attempted burglary, and was sentenced to 72 months in San Quentin.Regarding the current charges, Welch is due back in court for his Preliminary Hearing later this month.
