Peaceful local protests of the killing of George Lloyd come as local police departments make changes in response.
Departments in both Watsonville and Santa Cruz have this week banned the use of “carotid neck restraint” by their officers.
Watsonville police chief David Honda said that type of chokehold was NOT used on George Lloyd, but Honda said the “use of the force is not necessary in our time.”
Santa Cruz chief Andy Mills posted on social media that the choke restraint would no longer be used by his officers as well.
