A plant, that is native to the central coast, may be removed from the endangered species list. The San Benito Evening Primrose, was placed on the list in 1985, when it was thought to be in danger of extinction because there were only 9 small areas in San Benito county in which it grew. Over the past 30 years, however, the habitat for the annual plant (that has yellow flowers) has been restored and protected. The San Benito Evening Primrose is now growing in more than 100 areas in Monterey, San Benito, and Fresno counties.
