Edward Peter McGettigan, a Santa Cruz filmographer that captured the city’s history on film and the longtime face synonymous with Santa Cruz Community Television, died on June 14 at the age of 72. He recorded more than 700 hours of city council meetings during his tenure at community television in Santa Cruz. McGettigan also recorded the devastation of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and used it in his documentary, “Loma Prieta Earthquake: A Personal Video Journal.” He served as members of historical committees and commissions throughout the city.
