the state assembly unanimously passed a bill today that would facilitate partnering with non-profit organizations to maintain certain state parks. lawmakers announced last week that budget cuts would force the closure of 70 state parks and beaches. as part of a plan to keep some of them open, officials are seeking to partner with local governments and non-profits. under current law, doing so can require lengthy legislative procedures. ab-42 would eliminate the need to go through those procedures. it passed the assembly 67 to zero, and now moves to the state senate for consideration.
