Even though there were (and are) wildfire-related concerns about placing a large resort at the end of a box canyon… With only one way in and out, Monterey County Planning Commissioners approved the project at the end of Paraiso Springs Road. The resort reportedly currently includes a 103 room hotel, 73 timeshare units, as well as a lodge, visitor center, shops, a culinary training center, meeting and conference rooms, a spa, tennis courts, swimming pools, a raquetball pavilion, a vineyard and wine pavilion, a golf instruction center, a cultural center, an outdoor ampitheater and more. Part of this resort would be on the natural hotspring site (where the same developers illegally demolished 9 historic cottages more than a decade ago).
