U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta on Tuesday introduced the Farmworker Housing Improvement Act that’s intended to enhance affordable housing for farmworkers.
Panetta, of Salinas, says the Central Coast has an acute need for more and more affordable farmworker housing. He said the legislation will address the shortage by strengthening the Farm Labor Housing Loan and Grant Program, improving access to information for local non-profits, and increasing quality housing options for the farmworker community.
