(12:30) Aptos – The Department of Public Works will be submitting their second bid for the first phase of the Aptos Village development project this month. Santa Cruz County supervisors rejected the first bid due the project being $800,000 dollars over budget. The first phase of the $40 million dollar project was estimated, by an engineer, to be $1.3 million. Grainte Rock Co.’s bid was $2.177 million. The next meeting scheduled to rebid will be November 1st. Some of the public improvements that will be made are a new railroad crossing on Trout Gulch Road, widening Soquel Drive, a new bus stop, new drainage and sidewalks.
