October 23, 2015: High Levels of E. Coli Found in a Santa Cruz County Waterway

(07:48) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – Elevated levels of bacteria been found in a Santa Cruz County waterway. The San Lorenzo River has high levels of E. coli at the Big Trees entrance to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park and at Highlands Park. Advisories have been posted at both locations. Health officials have also announced that a toxic algal bloom is developing in the waterway, extending from the lagoon to the vicinity of the Water Street bridge. The public is being advised to avoid contact with the water. (S.G.)
