A 19-year old Oakland man, who was said to join the Marines later this year, lost his a hand and a chunk of his leg over the weekend after illegal firecrackers exploded in his pocket. Josh Myers was at a 4th of July party on Sunday when 2 explosives inside of his front pocket became ignited when a bottle rocket in his back pocket was lit by a floating ember. The firecrackers were the reported equivalent of a half-a stick of dynamite. Myers was planning on joining the marines in September.
