(16:45) SANTA CRUZ- An official with the Santa Cruz District of the California Department of Parks and Recreation said no action will be taken concerning the fate of the cement ship. Following the recent damage inflicted to the S.S. Palo Alto by heavy surf there had been speculation on attempts to repair the ship or to remove it. However it has been decided that as long as the vessel doesn’t pose a health risk it will be allowed to decay naturally into an artificial reef.
