There are new rules about when, and how close, pesticides can be applied near schools. California growers are banned from applying some pesticides between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday….within a quarter of a mile of schools and day care centers. A 2014 report identified Monterey county as having the largest percentage of schools near the highest concentration of pesticide use in California.
