Fresno sheriff’s deputies say 36-year-old Hileberto Valtierra Jr. has been arrested and is accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Angel Trejo and wounding his brother, described as a man in his early 20’s.
Investigators said Valtierra has previously dated the two victims’ mother. They believe a family argument preceded the Tuesday shooting. The incident took place in the Fresno County community of San Joaquin.
Salinas Police arrested Valtierra later Tuesday after a traffic stop. He faces charges that include homicide, attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon. The injured brother suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
