A mountain lion was killed on Highway 17 last week. It was the 13th mountain lion hit on Highway 17 since 2007. The county Land Trust is planning to construct an underground tunnel near Laurel Curve to prevent such incidents. The organization has launched a campaign to raise $1 million for a 280 acre protection area around the wildlife crossing by the end of this year.
