It’s Mosquito Breeding Time and people are encouraged to dump all standing and/or stagnant water outside…or on…..their homes. At this time of year mosquitoes are mostly just a nuisance, but later on they’re likely to carry diseases such as West Nile Virus, Zika, Dengue Fever, and Malaria,)….all of which have already been found in California. Since even a bottle cap of water is enough for the insect to breed in, it’s really important to clear all standing water from rain gutters on homes….and from buckets (or tires) that have been left outside in the yard in the rain…..and even the saucers under plants. People are welcome to contact their local Mosquito And Vector Control officers to get the larger pools of water on private property treated organically.
