After nearly 2 decades, plans are being developed to enhance and expand California’s first library. Different options are being considered for the 165 year-old Monterey Public Library, which has been in the same location since 1952. Needless to say when the building was constructed 66 years ago, today’s technology needs were not considered. Among other issues they hope to remedy, wireless service doesn’t penetrate the walls. A variety of funding options are being considered, as are what should be done, and in which phase of the updating of the library.
