The Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf Association has announced that about 20 of the food establishments in their association are taking part in a plastic straw ban beginning this week and, these establishments plan to use paper or reusable straws moving forward. According to a report prepared by staff from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, almost 9 million tons of plastic enters the ocean each year.
