Local Assemblyman Mark Stone’s bill, that could provide more than 16 million dollars to Santa Cruz for affordable housing, has been approved by the State Assembly. If AB-411 is signed into law, it would allow the city of Santa Cruz to spend housing bonds (that the city had already secured prior to the 2012 dissolution of the Redevelopment Agencies). The money is earmarked for projects that provide affordable housing, and homeless facility development. AB-411 is now set to go to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
