Although there are no confirmed cases of the Corona Virus (also known as Covid-19) in Santa Cruz or Monterey counties, there are 3 new cases of Covid-19 in Santa Clara county (bring their total to 7 cases), and of course the Hollister couple (who were hospitalized several weeks ago, and have since been allowed to return home). One of the new cases in Santa Clara county is an adult woman with chronic health conditions, while the other 2 are a husband and wife where the husband has chronic health challenges. Although that couple had recently traveled to Egypt, it’s unclear how those 3 new cases contracted the virus. Similar to other viral infections, Coronavirus is spread through droplets, when an infected person coughs or sneezes. People are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water frequently, and avoid touching their own faces. It’s also always recommended that people cover their mouth when they cough, preferably by coughing into their own inner elbow,,,,,and people are encouraged to stay home if they are sick.
